Last Day of First Grade!!!

Monday's News

Eric stated, "In gym we watched a video and it was all about biking safety."

Julia explained, "Today we read our poems because it was our last poem time and Kyleigh and I were partners. If we had the same one we read it together and if we had different ones we took turns."

Dee exclaimed, "Today I read my story that I published and The title was The Pigeon Story."

Friday's News

Eric stated, "We had art today and we made sunglasses with visions of summer."

Jamie exclaimed, "We had a Plant Tasting Party and we were being very crazy and cuckoo. We ate seeds, flowers, leaves, fruits and vegetables, roots and stems. My favorite was the popcorn from the seed group!"

Thursday's News

Deanna stated, "Today we did a little clean up in the classroom and I helped with the books, shapes and base ten blocks."

Jonas said, "We only had computer and it was all of us not half of us and we all went in together. I was partners with James and we played Creating Cars on www.abcya.com."

Wednesday's News

Julia exclaimed, "Today we did handwriting and we traced our names. After we wrote them in pencil we had to trace the one over that we did our best handwriting on both our first and last name!"

Nevaeh explained, "Today we  helped look in the book boxes and checked all the letters to make all the books together in the right box."

Monday's News

Kyleigh stated, "Today we read a poem called Sunflakes and we made sunflakes with bright yellow paper like when we did white snowflakes in winter."

Amelia said, "Today we researched animals and we got to pick out books of our own and I picked out one about foxes
that live in cold places."

Friday's News

Gwen said, "Today we went to art and we had choices of doing a drawing of a bird or lines that made a design. I did the design."

Nevaeh said, "Today we did measurement and counting of beans."

Thursday's News

Ximena exclaimed, "We are starting to learn about animals now. Deanna and I learned about reptiles.  Reptiles have scaly skin, they lay tough, hard eggs and some use camouflage for tricking!"

Jamie stated, "We celebrated Ximena's birthday today and her birthday is really in July. She brought in Rice Krispy treats to share."

Tuesday's News

Ben stated, "We had gym outside today because Mrs. LeFevre was the gym teacher and we played tag and had fun."

Julia exclaimed, "We got seeds yesterday and they were little and they had stripes on them. We put them in a cup with water and then today we looked at them and they were bigger and softer. We split them in half and we saw an embryo. It was small, tan and curved. The seed was mostly made up of food!"

Setting it free!

Look what emerged from the chrysalis we had since the fall! A beautiful black swallowtail butterfly! It feels like a miracle because we thought for sure it wasn't going to hatch and we almost threw it away! We have definitely learned about the beauty of patience!

Friday's News

Jonas said, "Potatoes are tubers. They grow in the ground and are not grown from seeds."

James added' "Today we learned about potatoes and weighed and measured them.  Amelia and I had a potato that weighed 117 teddy bears and it was 5 inches long and had 21 eyes!"

Tuesday's News

James said, "We finished up our paper farms.  I added a dog, a tree, a bunny and it was all free!  We made the extra animals out of paper scraps and other things."

Riley stated, "Mrs. LeFevre read Mrs.Piggle Wiggle's Farm to us.  The boy went with  Mrs. Piggle Wiggle to her house on a farm.  He milked a cow."
